Ice Cream Base
- Whisk sugar and cocoa powder with a few tablespoons of milk in a bowl until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Heat the remaining milk and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until steaming and sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
- Chill the mixture for at least 2 hours until fully cold.
- Stir vanilla extract into the cooled mixture.
Rocky Road Mix-Ins
- Churn the base in your ice cream maker for about 20-25 minutes until thick.
- Fold in mini marshmallows, toasted nuts, and chocolate chips during the last 5 minutes.
- Freeze the churned ice cream in a container for at least 4 hours until firm.
