Ingredients
Scale
- 1 fully cooked ham (about 4–5 lbs)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves (optional)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Ham: Place the fully cooked ham into your slow cooker. Ensure it’s positioned with the flat side down for better stability and even cooking.
- Mix the Glaze: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the brown sugar, apple juice, Dijon mustard, ground cloves (if using), and black pepper. Stir well until the brown sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Add the Glaze: Pour the prepared glaze evenly over the ham, allowing it to seep into the meat and infuse it with flavor.
- Cook Slowly: Cover the slow cooker and set it to low. Allow the ham to cook for 6-8 hours. This slow cooking process ensures the ham absorbs all the delicious flavors of the glaze while remaining juicy and tender.
- Glaze Halfway: About halfway through the cooking time, carefully remove the lid and use a spoon or a brush to glaze the ham with the juices that have collected at the bottom of the slow cooker. This step enhances the flavor and keeps the ham moist.
- Serve with Love: Once the ham is heated through, it’s ready to serve. Carefully remove it from the slow cooker, slice it, and drizzle with the remaining juices for added flavor.
