Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Pinch of salt
- Oil for frying
- Condensed milk for drizzling
Instructions
1. Make the Dough
- In a bowl, mix warm water and sugar.
- Stir in yeast and let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly. This step activates the yeast, a crucial part of making the dough rise.
2. Combine Ingredients
- In a large bowl, mix the yeast mixture, flour, vegetable oil, and salt until a dough forms.
- The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
3. Knead
- On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth, around 8-10 minutes.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour. This allows the dough to double in size.
4. Shape the Buns
- Punch down the dough to remove excess air.
- Roll into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a bun and place on a parchment-lined tray with space in between to prevent sticking.
5. Steam
- Steam the buns for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- Let them cool completely. This step ensures the buns are soft and fluffy.
6. Fry
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 180°C (350°F).
- Fry the cooled buns for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
7. Serve
- Drizzle the warm buns with condensed milk and enjoy!
