Homemade Wonton Soup recipe

  • Author: Sophia

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, mix the shredded chicken, chopped green onions, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. This mix will be the savory filling for your wontons.
  2. Assemble the Wontons:
Place 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal. You can also bring the corners together for a more traditional wonton shape.
  3. Prepare the Broth:
In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat. Add the soy sauce and sesame oil, stirring to combine the flavors.
  4. Cook the Wontons:
Gently drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the wontons float to the surface, indicating that they are cooked through.
  5. Serve:
Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot and enjoy the comforting flavors of your homemade wonton soup.
